Throughout Nelson’s 40-year career with Aviation and interest as a Private Pilot, he has touched all aspects
of the aviation industry. He has managed several airports in the Miami-Dade Aviation system of airports;
last of which included Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport and Dade-Collier Training & Transition Airport.
Nelson is currently working as the Aviation Planning Administrator for the Florida Department of
Transportation and is responsible for reviewing Florida airport Master Plans and ALPs, Florida Aviation
System Plan, and FDOT’s AAM program.
