From Innovation to Implementation
The 2022 FAV Summit marked a shift from early exploration to real-world progress in automated mobility. Leaders across government, infrastructure, and private industry came together to share insights, align strategies, and advance deployment efforts.
As technologies matured, the Summit highlighted growing collaboration and the increasing role of automation, electrification, and connectivity in shaping the future of transportation.
General sessions met in the Magnolia Ballroom with exhibits and posters in the Magnolia Foyer.
Opening remarks included Jeff Brandes, Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., Jared Perdue, and Jason Eichenholz.
The program grouped automated, connected, electric, and shared-use topics across agency, private-sector, and university tracks.

Sheryl Connelly, Chief Futurist at Ford, opened Friday with a future-facing view of mobility and technology trends.
- Medium- and Heavy-Duty Electrification
The Electrification Coalition, Orlando Utilities Commission, and Shell Recharge Solutions covered big rigs, resiliency, and Florida's EV infrastructure path.
- THEA CV Pilot, Advanced Air Mobility, and ACES Across the Board
Breakouts looked at the seven-year THEA connected-vehicle pilot, advanced air mobility, EV mobility, workforce development, and cross-disciplinary ACES deployment.
- Emergency Response, SunTrax, and 2023 Handoff
The closing session covered FDOT technology and data for emergency response, a SunTrax update, and the introduction of the 2023 Tampa summit.

Michelle Maikisch (MY-kish) is the Executive Director of the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX), overseeing a 125-mile network serving nearly 80 million residents and visitors across five counties. Known for her high-energy, inclusive leadership, she led CFX’s first performance-driven strategic plan and is guiding $4 billion in infrastructure projects through 2028. With over 20 years of experience, Maikisch is committed to building a world-class, integrated mobility network that keeps Central Florida moving for generations.
