Jim Katsafanas, PE, PTOE, is a Vice President and the National Connected and Automated Vehicle Technology Director at Michael Baker International. He is an experienced leader with over 32 years in transportation engineering consulting. In his role, Jim co-leads the company’s Mobility Technology Solutions Practice, where he provides national program leadership, guiding strategic direction, business development, and client advisory and engineering services. His expertise includes pioneering transportation technologies such as connected and automated vehicles, digital infrastructure, vehicle electrification, advanced air mobility, smart logistics, and other emerging mobility technologies. Jim actively participates in several industry organizations, including serving on the board of directors for the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and the ACES Mobility Coalition. A licensed civil engineer and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
